About Symposium
TROPMET/INTROMET is the flagship conference series of the Indian Meteorological Society (IMS), initiated in 1992 and held annually as TROPMET, with every fourth year organized as the international symposium, INTROMET. Now in its 30th edition, it remains the largest continuous platform for presenting original research and engaging in discussions with experts in meteorology, oceanography, climate science, and related fields. This year, INTROMET is organized by IMS Pune chapter and hosted at IITM, Pune during 18-20 November 2025.
INTROMET-2025 at IITM Pune, aims to serve as a multidisciplinary platform showcasing the critical role of cutting-edge research and technological advancements in tropical weather forecasting and monsoon studies worldwide. In the context of climate change, accurate forecasting of weather patterns and extreme events is crucial for sustainable development and societal benefit. Advances in understanding tropical weather and extreme events are helpful to mitigate natural disasters, enhance agricultural productivity, and optimize water resource management over the Indian subcontinent. Integrating innovative techniques with comprehensive research on regional and global monsoon systems enables the development of adaptive strategies that enhance community resilience, protect ecosystems, and support sustainable economic growth. This conference will serve as a platform to catalyze transformative ideas into actionable solutions for a sustainable and resilient future.
